Ivan Zhao, a graduate student in the Keel Lab, has recently been awarded the Dean's Scholarship for the Integrated Clinical Neuroscience (ICN) Training Program. The ICN is supported by NIH-funded training positions and the Dean’s Scholar line, which provides interdisciplinary training in clinical psychology and neuroscience through cross-area mentorship, collaborative research, and rigorous methodological development to prepare trainees for translational research careers focused on dysregulated behavior and mental disorders. Ivan was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship in the previous calendar year, during which he trained in immunoassay techniques to examine glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and its association with non-food reward across nutritional states; he will continue his research, supported by the Dean's Scholarship by collecting data investigating whether food anticipation functions as a conditioned stimulus for compensatory exercise through cortisol reactivity in bulimia nervosa.
